By the year 1983, Slovakia was in mortality rating under the global average. After this year, mortality in Slovakia reached a level above the global average, which was affected by a stronger demographic aging process. Its impact is particularly evident in the increasing share of people over the age of 65 and the decrease in the proportion of people in pre-productive and productive age.
