The present paper describes the concept of cross-functional managers compared with the one of traditional, classical managers. Using the reference literature on cross-functionality and our findings from the managerial practice, this paper investigates the status of cross-functional managers within both traditional and modern enterprises. We explore the position and capability of cross-functional managers to fulfil their objectives and to favorably solve the identity matters they are confronting with.
