COMPARATIVE PHYTOCHEMICAL STUDY REGARDING THE CONTENT OF PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS WITH HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2014, Mariana Arcus, Gheorghe Taralunga, Gabriela Lilios)

In this study, we attempted to identify the polyphenolic compounds of two species of the genus Parietaria (fam. Urticaceae), namely Parietaria lusitanica L., harvested from Toulouse (France) and an indigenous species, Parietaria officinalis L., harvested from the forest Fantanita-Murfatlar (Constanta county, Romania). The work method used for the qualitative and quantitative differentiation of the polyphenolic compounds in the vegetal products of these species was high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The...

PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF INTOXICATION WITH CYANOGEN SUBSTANCES

(STEF92 Technology, 2014, Gabriela Lilios, Gheorghe Taralunga, Mariana Arcus, Ramona M. Stoicescu, Verginica Schroder)

The highest quantity of cyanogen compounds in the environment results mainly from human activities (ore extraction, cleaning and hardening metals, galvanization etc). People with metabolic disorders in cyanide conversion to thiocyanide show a higher risk of intoxication with cyanogen substances. Some deficient diets may increase the risk to cyanide exposure. Thiocyanide, the main metabolite of cyanide, cause endemic goiter in humans and animals. In the studies, orally administrated cyanide and thiocyanide to rats,...
