MULTIMEDIA IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXHIBITION
Abstract
The paper discusses the issue of the possibility of use and applying the latest technological achievements used to collect and display artifacts from the past. The increasing number of collected works and emerging newer areas of archaeological research, later transformed into museum centers, enforce the introduction of other means than physical storage and exhibition. It is becoming easier to show the huge collected material obtained during research and archaeological excavations with the help of several stations presenting exhibits in digital form. This is particularly useful in the field of archeology associated with architecture, where huge urban areas can be digitally reproduced. In a such reconstructed digital world we can enter and learn in details every fragment, which would not be possible in a traditional exhibition. The paper includes descriptions and comparisons of existing and functioning museums using, in whole or in part, digital resource exposures. There are described the possibilities of using selected digital and virtual technologies in museums or archaeological parks as well as the possibilities of combining both with the help of augmented reality.
