THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROMANIAN TOURISM AND AGRITOURISM
Abstract
Tourism is a business that involves interaction, communication and promotion. Tourists need a reason to visit a place: interesting things to do and see, in a word, attractions. They may be natural or man made an activity or an event. People will not visit a place just because it has attractions, these must be developed and promoted to attract visitors. Someone has to tell them about that place or community and teach them how it should be done through marketing communication and different communicational strategies used in tourism and agritourism. The most common ways of promoting are brochures, posters and other informational materials, advertisements in newspapers, magazines and television, websites on the Internet and advertisements in the electronic media, the personal sales efforts of travel agents and those of cruise airlines or organized tours. In agritourism, for example, the market is very competitive and a community interested in its development needs to develop and deliver healthy products and services and have a solid communication plan of how to succeed.
