Abstract

The study is an analysis of the literature on the subject in the area of aspects of the transition of a young person from education to the labour market and the related implications for shaping the professional identity. The subject of reflection will also be the professional activity of young people, with particular emphasis on the dynamics and directions of changes on the labour market. A special role in preparing a young person for the transition process may and should be played by career counselling, which in its essence, should combine interests and cooperate with all entities of education and labour markets, however, mainly with regard to helping people. As emphasised by the authors of the Foundation Findings: Youth and work report, nowadays the emphasis should be placed on helping young people in the transition from education to the labour market. It seems important in this process to undertake activities in the field of organisation of all forms that raise the qualifications of a young person and at the same time prepare him for entering the world of work. After the completion of the education stage by a young man, a “crisis” takes place in his life. Because he goes from one “world” to another. Thus, the education system is expected to face new challenges in the area of educating the young generation, which will determine the course of any socio-economic changes. The effect of the analyses is to indicate the importance of preparing a young person for the transition process and showing the process of shaping the professional future of an individual in the realities of socio-economic changes.
