Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of intercultural communication between Russia and the Far East through the prism of alimentary culture. The Other's food is always of particular interest, since alimentary culture is one of the markers of identification. The NeighborВ’s food may scare or intrigue; it becomes often a factor in the formation of a negative image in mass culture. At the same time, an intercultural dialogue may take place through the borrowing of various alimentary facilities and their adaptation to local requirements. The author analyzes all these aspects through the prism of Foucauldian concept of transgression. In modern conditions, the expansion of intercultural dialogue is very active, as a consequence of the overall process of globalization. Different participants in this process are constantly exchanging food brands, and other people's food traditions are part of our everyday live. In the process of intercultural or cross-cultural interactions, both actors of the dialogue are changing. Other's alimentary preferences are borrowed, transformed within the framework of the traditions of the perceiving culture. In modern conditions, it is difficult to imagine cultures, that would not change due to globalist processes, however, these changes are not spontaneous, but occur due to a variety of political, economic and cultural trends, which clearly demonstrates the state of cultural processes in almost all countries of the world.
