TOWARDS COMPLETE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS IN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN: FROM PROFOUND STUDY OF INDIGENOUS CULTURE TO THE CONTEMPORARY DWELLING PROJECT
Abstract
The paper concerns theory and practice of architectural design with the focus on actual interpretation of critical regionalism intertwined with elements of bioclimatic strategies. The aim of the paper is to analyse the relationship between indigenous cultural heritage, theory of architecture and contemporary building project. These interacting elements are presented in the light of the complex process of architectural education. The paper explains how modern architectural design should be based on the balance between human, environmental and technological factors. The author describes how necessary understanding of inhabitants' functional and aesthetic needs derives from profound study of their cultural background and how this knowledge can be applied into architectural project. Educational process is focused on a domestic dwelling and the neighbourhood unit as the most archetypical and essential human typologies.
