Abstract

The majority of information has a spatial context that can be represented in the map. For some kinds of users, the map is not only the possibility but also the necessity. In such cases it is highly important that presented information is correctly understood by the target group of users. Among these belong people with visual impairments, for which, however, the conventional map is insufficient. The number of visually impaired people increases every year and to their full-fledged integration into society is devoted a great attention. The user issues are determined by the users, in this specific case by the users of any geovisualizations and represent the most important influence in the process of map creation and map use. On user requirements and preferences is needed to take special attention and should be the determining factor in creating the concept of cartographic work and through the whole process of map creation. Also it is important to focus the methods of education of people with visual impairment. The connection between map users' issues and tactile cartographic education is one of the most important challenges of multidisciplinary approach. The paper/contribution focuses the user issues in the tactile cartographic education. The modern trends in tactile cartography, 3D printing and modern methods of education (incl. lifelong education) will be presented.
