TECHNOLOGY OF A GLASS MOSAIC WITH USE OF TACK FUSING
Abstract
The objective of this research is a development of new technology of creation of a glass mosaic, which will allow us to produce products of arts and crafts without application of a cement assembly due to its replacement with heat treatment (tack fusing). This paper presents the technology of tack fusing, which imitates the technology of creation of the Byzantine mosaic. Main results of the experiments revealing nature of glass behavior during heat treatment are presented. On their basis the author submits some application recommendations about the choice of an optimal time-temperature mode of fusing depending on the sizes of a sample and working space of the kiln. The main advantages of this technology in comparison with a classical mosaic and stained-glass windows are described. The author describes area of practical application of this technology on the example of creation of the triptych В«Faces of SacredВ».
