В‘CLEVER PERSONВ’ IN RUSSIAN LINGUISTIC WORLDVIEW
Abstract
The article is dedicated to representation of such a characteristic personality trait as intelligence, particularly the image of a clever person shaped and perceived by Russian native speakers. Theoretical grounding for the research is the integration of functional and psycholinguistic approaches. The data were obtained through ???????????? ?????? ???????? ????? (????) В‘Russian National CorpusВ’ [7]) data (syntagmatic level), dictionaries of modern Russian language (word and phrase levels), two surveys based on convenience sampling, a restricted word associations experiment, and a cognitive test. The obtained data were processed with the help of componential, descriptive, and comparative methods of analysis. The analysis of the use of different forms, namely, feminine and masculine singular forms of the adjective ????? В‘cleverВ’, and phrases ????? ??????? В‘a clever womanВ’ and ????? ??????? В‘a clever manВ’ as well as the responses to restricted word associations test allowed to draw the conclusions about stereotyped image of a clever person in Russian language worldview.
