Abstract

The article justifies the classification of professional-business letters for linguodidactic purposes. Discourse analysis of business letters is a way to establish methodically significant features of the texts of this genre and analyze their essence and significance for learning the reception and production of business letters. The features of professional-business letters include their function, subject, composition, social characteristic and communication channel. The performed analysis of 80 texts also allows us to characterize the main classes of professional-business letters and outline the basic requirements for writing business letters. The author should observe the accuracy and unambiguity of the statement. All words should be used according to their lexical meaning. The letter should be logical, competent and correct. The results obtained in this study can be used by teachers of the Russian language for preparing lectures and practical classes as well as drawing up curricula in the “Culture of Speech” discipline.
