ARGUMENTATION AS THE BASIS OF REPRESENTATION AND TRANSFER OF KNOWLEDGE IN DISCOURSE-MAKING PROCESS

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to study the category of argumentation as a framework for the process of design and transfer of knowledge as mental representations of real world situations, events, etc. to its addressee in discourse-making process. The study was based on the application of the cognitive model of world perception. The analysis of texts on economics from the point of view of their argumentative organization showed argumentation as one of the main categories that organizes the internal cognitive structure of discursive activity in three basic aspects: factual, which is actually information about the facts regarded as arguments; rhetorical, that is, various forms and styles of speech, their emotional impact on the addressee; logical, implying the coherence and sequence of utterances. As every discourse involves speech impact through persuasion and any persuasion is inextricably connected with argumentation the authors considered it to be a logic-communicative process serving to reasoning a particular point of view with the purpose of its perception, understanding and (or) acceptance by individual or collective recipient. The ongoing study of argumentative characteristics of text activity will allow access to the structures of knowledge representation and their conceptual arrangement.
