SUSTAINABLE RESIDENTIAL HOUSING FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF ITS USERS. HOLLAND.
Abstract
Background Holland is a pioneer state, world-famous for its reformative and experimental architecture. Students and architects from all over the world come here very often for research and study-related purposes. During the last decade Holland has exported a lot of architecture abroad. This tradition comprises also sustainable construction, including sustainable housing construction, which became the subject of Dutch architects' experiments as early as in the 1970s. Investors and designers were and still are ready to do everything to transform their ideas into designs and they accept the risk of failure. This type of work is typical for Holland. Is it accepted by users of the contemporarily formed housing environment, that is by residents? And do they consider it to be an answer to the principles of sustainable development? Methods This article has been written on the basis of the Author's study devoted to the knowledge and capabilities of users of housing investments referring to the application of sustainable solutions. The study adopts the following criteria: health-related aspect, environmental protection, comprehensive information and assistance. Surveys were distributed among users of housing investments in Holland. An analysis and assessment of the current situation was carried out. Results The results of the study point out to the common access to comprehensive information and comprehensive assistance for investors and users who declare their willingness to form housing investments on the basis of the sustainable development principles in Holland. The application of sustainable solutions in housing construction is very popular in this country. The interest in ecology, health and the issue of sustainable development is constantly growing. The knowledge of Dutchmen about these issues is very extensive. And the society is constantly willing to learn more and more. Conclusion Rapid development of sustainable housing construction in Holland is supported by integrated actions, consisting in close cooperation of all actors participating in the investment process, starting from the investment planning, through the design, implementation and use. The willingness of investors – the future users of apartments, their technical and financial capabilities of applying sustainable solutions, are supported by the system of comprehensive information and assistance for them. At the source of this system there lies a close cooperation, built for many years, between scientific and educational units, state, municipal and local authorities, non-profit organizations, housing cooperatives, residents' associations, real estate agencies, banks and consulting companies, expert teams and addressees of sustainable housing investments – their users.
