CAREER ADAPT-ABILITIES SCALE-TRANSYLVANIAN HUNGARIAN FORM: PSYCHOMETRIC PROPERTIES AND RELATIONSHIP TO WORK EXPERIENCE

Abstract

The main goal of the current paper was to translate The Career Adapt-Abilities Scale – CAAS International Form 2.0 into Hungarian language, furthermore to examine the factor structure and psychometric characteristics of the scale in a Hungarian sample from Transylvania. Data was collected from 694 university and high school students. The age of the participants ranged from 15 to 26 years (M=19.37, SD=2.05). Internal consistency estimates for the subscales and total scores ranged from good to very good (Cronbach alpha’s ?= .70 -.89). The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) for the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale – Transylvanian Hungarian form (CAAS-THu) resulted similar factor structure to the International Form 2.0: included four scales which measure concern, control, curiosity, and confidence as psychological resources for managing occupational transitions, developmental tasks, and work traumas. One item was excluded from the curiosity subscale. Results showed no significant differences between females and males participants. In addition, significant differences were found in career adaptability from the point of view of work experience. In conclusion, the psychometric properties of CAAS-Thu showed that the scale is a valid and reliable scale for researchers and practitioners too.
