Abstract

In conditions of high uncertainty and growth of social tension there increases a need to acquire techniques for organizing oneВ’s life in terms of time. Time competence acts as a leading component of the regulatory capabilities of a person. Time competence as a source for coping with difficult life situations and as a life potential allowing a person to act constructively is being widely studied at present. In this study, the authors present a structural and functional model of the time competence of an individual, which has axiological, motivational, cognitive, operational and technological, reflexive and evaluative components. The authors studied the characteristics of time competence of people who overcome difficulties in life situations in different ways and identified parameters of time competence affecting the success in overcoming difficult situations. The analysis of test results of 318 subjects with the use of one-way ANOVA allowed the authors to conclude that the value of the speed of work execution, the sequence of operations in time, the richness of life events affects the success in overcoming difficult life situations. The longer is the time of action and the more easily people adapt to the speed and rhythm of their colleagues, the less painfully they experience difficult life situations. The more negative attitude people show to past events, the more likely they are to fail to overcome difficult life situations. Focus on the future and hedonistic present contributes to the success in overcoming difficult situations.
