TEXT THEME MODELING AS A TOOL FOR ANALYZING TEXT COMPREHENSION
Abstract
The text theme is one of the integral units of the text information space, representing one of the types of text compression. As such information constructs, one can consider the idea of a text, the concept of a text, the meaning of a text- each of them is based on a special method for processing textual information. We believe that the explication of mechanisms for processing information using the above constructs is relevant for modern linguistics. The subject of this article is the explication of mechanisms for the theme formation. Modeling of the thematic space of the text was carried out using the method of semantic mapping, based on the psycholinguistic experiment. The participants performed the following tasks: 1) to read the text, define its theme; 2) 2) to single out the micrithemes of the text and name them; 3) to write out the words that represent each microtheme in the text. Based on the results of the experiment, a semantic map was generated, which made it possible to construct a graph-semantic model of the text. The analysis of the components of the obtained model allowed us to state that the understanding of the text is strongly influenced by the semantic relationship between text elements that has a stable character.
