CAREER COUNSELLING: DISCREPANCY BETWEEN LABOUR MARKET REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION OF JOB SEEKERS.
Abstract
This article aims to demonstrate how career counsellors perceive discrepancies between requirements of the labour market and education of job seekers. We delivera closer perspective of view of a young and employed people on the labour market as well as the requirement that employers have on job seekers. Young graduates are disadvantages by the lack of work experience. Employees often prefer people with larger work experience although they may have lower qualifications as well as job seekers who speak some foreign language. Authors also try to emphasize how job seekers perceive the situation at the labour market. The way people perceive labour market varies according to their age. The article also highlights possible causes and consequences of career counselling in the light of factors affecting job seekers choice of career orientation (e.g. indecisiveness, undecidedness, personal difficulties, development stage, external motivation, family background).With the aim to contribute on reducing the discrepancy between the practice and research, we deliver experience from the career counselors themselves.
