LINGUISTIC FEATURES OF RUSSIAN DIPLOMATIC DISCOURSE
Abstract
Diplomatic discourse as a specific type of discourse attracts the attention of many researchers because it quickly reflects global changes in the world community and constructs a special reality. It is obviously that in the era of global world conflicts the correct choice of words in international communication is crucial. The right words can help to solve conflict situations and make peaceful decisions. In another case, a careless word or violation of the rules of a diplomatic protocol and diplomatic ceremonial can lead to an international conflict or even a war. The purpose of this work is to describe the linguistic nature of Russian diplomatic discourse which determines the implementation of manipulative influence through the specific functioning of linguistic means. The material of the study was the transcripts of speeches made by well-known Russian diplomatic representatives posted on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. During the analysis, explicit and implicit speech tools used by diplomats to transmit information in explicit and hidden forms are revealed.
