ETHICAL TRAINING IN UNIVERSITY FOR THE FUTURE PRE-SCHOOL AND PRIMARY EDUCATION TEACHERS
Abstract
The teaching and ethical competences represent the most important aims of university programs for preschool and primary education teachers. Introductory knowledge in ethical theories is based on students` arguing and on interactive activities. Students analyze ethical principles, design case-studies to illustrate these principles or judge behaviors that violate them. Students are involved in cooperative activities of building the teacher`s ethical profile or in analyzing the main provisions of the Education Law. They train their ethical competences by solving moral dilemmas or designing dilemmas that involve the relationship between teachers and students, teacher and parents or teachers and their superiors. The paper presents some theory on ethical issues and exemplifies them with learning activities carried out by students. A brief analyses of students` learning outcomes will highlight the development of their ethical skills. Conclusions state that ethical training of the future teachers for preschool and primary education can`t be limited at traditional study of ethical theories. It requires students` active involvement in activities of analyzing, arguing, critical thinking, solving moral dilemmas and imaging case studies to illustrate the theory.
