MARKETIZATION MECHANISM IN EDUCATION

Abstract

The current educational system and market economy orientation, in the context of the European UnionВ’s educational policy, create an interconnected and complex relation. Therefore, the integral topic of the European educational system is to flexibly react to socio-political changes and increase a nationВ’s productivity. Thus, pressures from the economy significantly influence not only educational policy, but also pedagogical theory and practice. Schools and universities increasingly adopt the new public management principal, stemming from a corporate managerial model. As capital dictates the goals for education, the business realm supplies the model of providing and managing services. The dynamic of a developing market brings also a dynamic of widespread changes in the state administrationВ’s creation of economic transactions, economic opportunities, and education policy. Although, this does not represent economic determinism but the complex relationship between the administration and private sector. This empirical article focuses on a school principal as a school manager, where proving managerial skills, accent on knowledge, skills and traits need to manage an institution are becoming increasingly necessary in profit oriented schooling in the competitive environment of our society.
