THE RELATIONSHIPS OF ATTACHMENT STYLES WITH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' LIFE SATISFACTION AND PLACE ATTACHMENT
Abstract
The main purpose of this correlation study is to examine the relationship of attachmentstyles with life satisfaction and place attachment in university students at University ofCatania, Italy. We used the following measures: the State Adult Attachment Measure,the Life Satisfaction Scale, and two versions of the Place Attachment Inventory for the“living place” and for the “affective place”, respectively. Results indicated that: 1) themore the students showed secure attachment and the less avoidant attachment, the morethey reported high scores in life satisfaction; 2) the more the students showed highdependence and identity attachment with both the living and affective place, the morethey reported high scores in life satisfaction. Future research will analyze the influenceof place meanings and living experiences as psychological variables in adult attachment.
