Abstract

A teacher must overcome many different obstacles during these changes when trying to improve the quality of his teaching. As part of the qualitative research, we focused both on the behavior of the pupils and on the behavior of the teacher, who, in order to improve the quality of his teaching, is trying to change his educational style, from a transmissive style to a constructivist style. In the framework of this article, we focused on the obstacles that a teacher changing his educational style must overcome. The research is based on video recordings of a math class of pupils aged 11-13. The educational aim of the group was to lead pupils to reveal the formula for the combination number n over 2 using a constructivist approach. The research methodology is based on one of the constructivist trends called genetic constructivism. In the article, we focus on the analysis of these obstacles in the framework of various situations and also discuss how best we should react in such situations according to the constructivist approach.
