Abstract

The overhead bridge crane generates transverse horizontal forces as it travels along the crane runway. Transverse horizontal forces are caused by the braking of the crab and also by the crane's own travel, which is not straight due to the imperfections of the crane and the crane runway. This kind of forces can be called forces caused by skewing of crane. There are several interpretations for the crane skewing, from which various computational models are based. Individual interpretations, however, differ both in terms of the calculation model and the magnitude of the transverse forces. The author of this article created a dynamic model of the crane, which enables the calculation of horizontal transverse forces during the start-up and travel of the crane. This model is a general dynamic model that allows determining not only the size of lateral forces, but also the movement and behavior of the crane on the crane path in general. The paper describes a measuring device that must be designed to measure the required horizontal transverse forces during the experiment. The experiment is planned to verify the validity of the assembled dynamic model by measuring the transverse horizontal forces between the crane and the crane runway.
