DAILY LIFE OF THE SOUTH OF RUSSIA POPULATION DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR (1941-1945)

Abstract

The victory in the Great Patriotic War was achieved not only due to the military potential of the Soviet Union and fighting on the fronts, but also due to the efforts of the whole society: the situation of socio-economic, political, cultural and leisure spheres played an essential role in winning the victory. At the same time, the emergency war atmosphere inevitably led to the deterioration of living conditions of the entire countryВ’s population, including Southern Russia, where the Stalingrad battle occurred, which had a huge military, political and international importance, which sped up the Victory and determined the outcome of the Second World War in general. The front approaching to the territory of the region worsened the everyday problems of the population. In the first place, there appeared the lack of the food and items of daily demand, necessary for housing and medical service. The least protected categories of citizens, including military menВ’s families, orphans, mothers with many children, evacuated people needed governmental support. The activities implemented in the region allowed to ease logistical difficulties, however, the reduction of resources in the social sphere could not provide a full solution to the inhabitantsВ’ everyday problems.
