EDUCATOR AND HIS/HER EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY IN THE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL DORMITORY IN THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC
Abstract
In everyday life we can often encounter the terms education and upbringing. These terms may seem to be simple as we use them practically in everyday communication. We bring up our own children, we influence the children of our acquaintances or we set an example for wide surroundings. However, can we really say that these terms are understood by everyone? Who performs such activity professionally? Are qualifications needed for the performance of work connected with education and upbringing? If they are what kind of qualifications? Certainly, we could pose even more questions and definitely we could not avoid an opinion polemic and possibly even internal conflicts in order to find correct answers. Therefore we will pursue and seek answers relating to the work and position of a group educator who works in a vocational school dormitory in Slovakia. At the same time we would like to emphasise the educatorВ’s contribution in the educational process and we will also look at the position he/she has among vocational school teachers or at how other teaching staff members and students view his/her work and the educator himself/herself.
