Abstract

Education and research today promote cross-sectoral cooperation and development. New possibilities and requirements for education and research are created by the use of modern laser-processing technologies. In order to facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation, it is necessary to focus on the research strategy in an interdisciplinary research process. The aim of the article is to evaluate the progress of interdisciplinary research activities, which is an essential part of the theoretical and empirical assessment of research competence and its activation in the design and engineering education of the Rezekne Academy of Technologies. Methods of qualitative research used: theoretical – research and analysis of literature and Internet resources, empirical - focus group discussion and expert interview data processing. In the study participate students and lecturers of engineering and design study programs. Study period – 2017/2018. The research is of practical importance, as based on the results of an interdisciplinary experimental activity, the directions of improvement of study research activities are determined. Academic staff, in cooperation with students and entrepreneurs can try out the possibilities of textile processing, develop innovative experimental solutions, and design textile products with the use of laser-processing technologies.
