Our research starts with a much circulated work of the 18th century, namely Patrick Gordon’s Geography Anatomized, a geography school book compiled after a new method for that time. The article deals with activating methods for geography teaching in out-of-school environment in Slovakia, particularly in the Nitra City. Moreover, it focuses on the popularization of geography among different age categories via the activating methods such as didactic games and experiments.
