This article represents an attempt to reconstruct the history of scientific and educational community in Tomsk throughout two decades (1920-1930s) on the basis of both published and unpublished sources. For the first time authors have formulated the notion of crisis of university lecturers' corporate identity influenced by shaping of the Soviet state based on regional example.
