In the work the role of educational institutions in the prophylactic treatment of the youth on a regional level is considered. There are data of arrangement of special conditions for skill development and formation of protective factors against taking psychoactive substances in educational institutions.

The article brings findings on using psychoactive substances by Slovakian children and youth. The aim of this research was to analyze the trends of abuse of psychoactive substances. Research sample consisted of 2 407 pupils aged 12 to 16 years from two big cities in Slovakia. Data were collected by questionnaire ISRD 3 which was developed within the project International Self-Reported Delinquency.
