CONFLICT AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT:ACADEMICS’ PERCEPTIONS
Abstract
The main goal of this research is to determine the attitudes of academicians in terms of conflict, the types of conflicts they encountered and conflict management styles they applied. For this research, Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory was used to identify the academicians’ perceptions regarding conflict and conflict management styles. The sample data for this research is 186 academicians in Istanbul. In the research, participants emotional intelligence was assessed by the Emotional Competence Inventory (ECI, 2nd Version) developed by Boyatzis and Goleman. The SPSS statistical program was used to analysis academicians’ data by using statistical techniques. It is concluded that there is a correlation between conflicts perceive and conflict management styles.
