THE PART OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY-THE MANAGEMENT OF THE POST MINING WASTES-CASE STUDIES

Abstract

The activities of modern companies depend not only on economic performance but also on a broadly understood sustainable development strategy from economic, social and environmental perspective. Polish hard coal mining undertakings aspire to be such companies. Therefore, currently many of mining and post- mining communities is looking for new possibilities of development. They have to look for different ways of economic activation and new possibilities for those areas. Entrepreneurs are looking for different ways to diversifications of the production and services. Everybody got used to treat mines on Upper Silesia as „manufacturer” of hard coal and numerous group of by-production waste. Modern players on the market, primo, cannot to focus their offer to only one product, secondo, they should use maximally all production materials. They could use all rock wastes which are stored on slag heaps, methane from coal mines (also from already closed mines), and also from salted mining waters. These products are not waste, but the possibilities for the region, community and environment.In this paper Authors show already realized projects and project proposals of management of waste from hard coal exploitation in Poland, which fit into the strategies of corporate social responsibility.
