Abstract

A high priority task nowadays is to improve the quality and effectiveness of education. Systematic education on, consequent acquisition of and active identification with the philosophy of reducing waste production plays a crucial role as early as primary and lower secondary levels of education. One of the specific objectives of the project is to emphasize the interdisciplinary nature and the deep interconnection of sciences integrated into traditional school subjects. This paper aims to give information about the e-learning course with entitled “Modernization of education and interdisciplinary approach in the framework of waste and waste management” an on-going Cultural and Educational Grant Agency project No. 044 UKF-4/2017. This e-learning course is focused on knowledge about waste that pupils of the 6th-9th grades of elementary schools and the 1st-4th grades of 8-year grammar schools have. The course emphasizes the chemical properties of waste and deals with waste management in terms of educational practice and in relation to practical application of pro-environmental waste management. Our aim is to emphasize that this part of education has not only an interdisciplinary character but also the character of lifelong learning. In this article we focused on the importance for education of students, trainee teachers and certified teachers, who have to deal with chemical experiments and need to properly deal with the resulting waste occurring during such laboratory experiments. This e - learning course concentrates on the meaning, importance and the foundation of education about the environment and its protection.
