Abstract

Counseling is a separate scientific discipline that focuses on solving client’s problems and at the same time, attempts to increase client's competencies to solve these problems. The main part of implementation is to provide the client with sufficient information about the situation and to conclude their own decision. This paper will bring a closer look of the system of advisory bodies in the Czech Republic, especially in school practice. Firstly there is the theoretical anchor and the legislative framework which serves as the base for the practice. Consequently, counseling will be introduced as an applied science. In the second part of the paper, the author outlines possible starting points for her future dissertation work, which aims at mapping the awareness of consultants in educational advisory centers (special pedagogical center, pedagogical - psychological counseling) on transgender /transsexuality. The diagnosis of transsexuality can occur at both, the child but also their parents or other close relatives. The aim of the future work is mainly to raise awareness about this topic and subsequently the effort to include the subject in the curriculum of future teachers and counselors.
