VALUES EDUCATION IN CZECH SCHOOLS THROUGH STORIES WITH CHILD AND ADOLESCENT HEROES
Abstract
Values education is inseparable part of educational process. In this article, the partial results of research, which will be focused on Values Education of pupils from second grade of basic schools, will be summarized. One of the tools of this type of education is also reading the texts with stories with child and adolescent heroes. These stories provide young readers inspiration for dealing with their own life situations and crises, they provide them the source of motivation for adoption of important values and they react very flexibly to changes in society and reflect topical needs of children and adolescents. By means of content analysis of selected publications with those stories and content analysis of selected collection of reading-books designed for second grade of basic school, the figures about topics (or rather indirectly values), to which the biggest attention is dedicated, will be obtained. This all will be given into context with partial educational targets of curricular documents, mainly with emphasis on targets of personal and social education, which is closely related to Values Education.
