GENERAL REFLECTIONS ON SWOT ANALYSIS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY LEGISLATION IN ROMANIA
Abstract
Promoting and developing the energy sector is an essential component of the process of Romania's sustainability. Sustainability in the promotion of the energy sector can be achieved by: building new capacities, upgrading and modernizing the energetic sector, stimulating the increase of internal consumption in the context of energy efficiency, promoting and capitalizing on renewable energy sources, especially geothermal energy. In this context, Romania participates in European projects aimed at promoting and capitalizing on renewable energy sources, especially geothermal energy. It is explained that within the European project DARLINGe, financed by the INTERREG Danube Transnational Program, made by a consortium of 14 partners from 6 countries and 7 strategic partners, including Romania, through the Geological Institute of Romania, each partner country of the project, had as activity during the project period, the elaboration of a report on the SWOT analysis of the existing national legislation on the geothermal energy segment. This paper presents a summary of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats regarding the geothermal energy sector legislation in Romania in the context of the European project DARLINGe.
