FROM A HISTORY OF WARS TO UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS OF WAR IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Abstract
Sociology as a scientific discipline includes the sociology of war. In recent years, wars have not become a thing of the past, but, on the contrary, military conflicts are taking place even more often, affecting the everyday life of modern society on the global and local levels. This article focuses on the issue of war as a social process by examining the works of Nikolai Golovin and Pitirim Sorokin and other scholars who have contributed to the development of the sociology of war. They set key trends in establishing the sociology of war as an academic discipline, or, in other words, made a major contribution to the development of this subfield, amounting to a comprehensive review of what war is and why it has had such a great impact on different peoples. Russian sociologists who have studied the sociology of war have discovered the ways in which war and social change are connected. The historical processes of the twentieth century and related social processes are discussed. The article also examines the nature of war and demonstrates how social conflicts occur, according to Sorokin. In conclusion, it is emphasized that the citizens of all nations should pay attention to studying wars in order to understand the risks and consequences of radical social change.
