THE EFFICIENCY OF AEROBIC EXERCISES IN THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF OBESITY AND DIABETES
Abstract
The work we present is part of a project made in collaboration with Institute of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases „N. Paulescu”.The group also followed throughout the study a diet based on a reduced caloric diet and an independent physical activity program. Hypothesis: the start of a program of aerobic exercise, carefully selected, may improve the clinical status of overweight and obese students who suffer from type 2 diabetes. Results: The statistical processing of the experimental data showed significant differences in blood glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride after 8 months compared to first values. Somatic measurements have demonstrated a decrease in weight, which proves the effectiveness of the program applied. Regarding body mass index, 24% of subjects who, at first testing were in the obese group, were afterwards categorized as overweight and normal weight. The exercises should be performed regularly, daily or 3 times a week, with an average duration of 30-45 minutes and a moderate intensity of exercises.
