FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERNIZATION OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION OF RUSSIA: RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS

Abstract

The article considers the history of the development of the leading university of the Ural region in the context of modernization of the country's higher education. One of the most important tasks facing the Russian state was the development of higher education and, above all, engineering. The authors, using the example of the largest regional university in Russia, traced the main stages of its creation, development and modernization in accordance with socio-economic realities in the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The authors used the following scientific methods: historical-comparative analysis of normative sources, retrospective analysis of statistics, archival data. The modernization methodology has been applied and the process of development of the university has been graded. The typologization of the period of development of higher education allowed to highlight important milestones in the development of the university in the Soviet and post-Soviet period and to compare these changes with the course of administrative reforms in the country. The modernization of education in this period is connected with the processes of creating and strengthening of the State. It points out the difficulties of its creation after the First World War and the Civil War. Emphasizing scientific and technical cooperation with Germany. Giving the examples of the creation of scientific schools and forms of training scientific personnel. ?iting the data of the scientific and material base of the university. The role of the university in the creation of the engineering corps of the Soviet Union and of the region in pre-war, military and post-war years was disclosed. Global changes in the university were noted in the process of restructuring the system of higher education at the end of the past and the beginning of this century. Proved that at the present stage of its development the Ural Federal University is not only the leading regional university, but also actively enters the educational markets of other countries, acting as one of the leading national centers of education and science of the country.
