Abstract

Today, motorcycle response units are operating in 20 European countries. Based on sta- tistically relevant data, it is proven that the ambulance of the motorcycle response units in the same traffic conditions is half the departure time faster at the address compared to the classic ambulance. Other benefits of motorcycle response units is also promptness in lifelife-saving operations, independence of work at the place of intervention and significantly lower operating costs. Motorcycle response unit is intended for rapid intervention in pa- tients who are in critical condition. The paramedic performs the initial lifelife-saving opera- tions, comprehensively treats the patient and subsequently the patient is transported by a classic ambulance of the emergency medical service to the destination medical facility. It works on rendezrendez-vous system. Motorcycle response units are equipped with medical equipment and materials that the paramedic needs for lifelife-saving operations and perfor- mance his profession. The motorcycle paramedic is often the first on scene and he must to intervene in a cardiac arrest situation and starting resuscitation. There are witnesses in the vicinity of the event - lay rescuers who can be helpful in the given situation. In Hungary, they have developed a stand ardized procedure for extended resuscitation by one person, where the procedures also include active learning and in- volvement of the lay rescuer in the life -saving process. The procedure is unique and is already used by several motorcycle units in the worlworld. The research was focused on rela- tionship between arrival time to scene and the success of resuscitation. The success rate of resuscitation is around 25 percent, which is an aboveabove-average result on a European scale.
