Abstract

Nowadays, some contemporary houses are becoming extraordinary through individual design and may be presumed as manifestos or icons. At some locations the design is driven by the site: the houses either open to the adjacent neighborhood or expose the site's advantages. The 'house with a view' or 'view house' is a term often used by architects to describe their design for an extraordinary house which explores the element of the view in the house idea. The author discusses the term 'house with a view' and proposes a definition. Several case studies have been presented. The author presents personal experiences with individual design for a house with a view. Parametric evaluation method has been proposed to compare different case studies.
