CRITICAL APPROACH TO LANGUAGE MANIPULATION AT EFL CLASSES

Abstract

In the paper the author deals with selected ways of language manipulation commonly used in media as well as in everyday communication, e.g. political correctness, euphemisms, euro-jargon, etc. Firstly, the author provides linguistic and contextual classification of the studied phenomenon along with examples. Subsequently, she follows with critical analysis and the possible way of their presentation at EFL classes as part of the curriculum for the university students of media studies, journalism, European studies and political studies. Finally, the author brings and discusses students? perception of the problematics.
