Abstract

Digital games are among the fast-growing market segment. It is a contemporary phenomenon of entertainment, relaxation, but also of competition, business and, last but not least, it would be inappropriate to omit the educational function of games. Therefore, it is extremely important for academics to pay attention to various aspects and to try not only to describe but also to clarify the causality of individual aspects of the games. This is precisely why the contribution is devoted to selected elements that include digital games. The contribution analyzes and clarifies game interaction, narration and cybertext. The paper is using the hermeneutical method and reflects the basic theoretical bases and definitions of the presented problem and their comparison through various author's approaches and opinions. Using these methods, the goal of the paper is to contribute to the theme of digital games from the point of view of academics in the field of selected aspects of games, as these are areas that affect how much the game will be successful in the impact on the player. Another reason is that games have a strong potential to impact on cognitive functions of a person, and with an ever-increasing gaming trend, there is no doubt that gaming research will play an important role in the development and use of this new medium.
