EXPERIENCE AND SATISFACTION OF THE EMPLOYERS OF FREELANCERS

Abstract

Freelancing is not a new concept at the labor market, however, as our business environment changes, it requires a quick adaptation to new conditions. A large study was conducted with the aim to find out about the status of freelancing in Croatia. This paper presents the employersВ’ standpoint. Although keeping employees satisfied is often in focus as one of the primary managerial tasks, the starting question of this paper is, what kind of a freelancers keep employers happy? The research method was a questionnaire with the task to discover employersВ’ experiences with freelancers and their possible relationship with companiesВ’ different operational areas. The total of 76 respondents who declared experience, are asked an open-ended question with the aim of understanding the reasons lying behind the satisfaction and/or dissatisfaction of the employers. The hypotheses of the study state that there are significant differences in employer satisfaction with previously hired freelancers in terms of different operational areas, and furthermore, the dimension of time is the most important factor influencing satisfaction of employers with previously hired freelancers. For the evaluation of company operational areas and satisfaction with previously employed freelancers, Kruskal-Wallis H test with DunnВ’s post-hoc pairwise comparisons was conducted to reveal possible significant differences. The results of the open-ended question about employersВ’ priorities was handled with qualitative data evaluation techniques. The evaluation of the textual answers shows that respecting deadlines and the speed of work are indeed at the top of the list along with professionalism, expertise and high quality of performance.
