ELITE EDUCATION AS A MERITOCRATIC VALUE OF THE POST-INDUSTRIALISM
Abstract
In the conditions of the transition from the industrial society to the post-industrial one, the issue of the transformation of the existing qualities and their adaptation to new historical conditions becomes more topical. The significance of those heterotopies specifying the quality of the future dominants which will determine the elite quality of the elite has been growing. The authors analyze the knowledge system in terms of the elite education problem, directed on the production of the meritocracy as a new type of the elites of the post-industrial society. The research theory is based on the conceptions by D. Bell and M. Young in respect to the qualitative development of the meritocracy in the conditions of the socio-cultural heterotopy. The special attention has been paid to the problems of the challenges of the modern era, the analysis of the historical mission of the elite education, the interaction of the education quality and nanotechnologies as well as a number of the applied aspects of the education elitology. Just by means of the elite education, the elites of the future will be selected. Nowadays, many researchers note the direct dependence of the elite selection on the education quality. Many experts think the meritocratic success of the future deals with that. The paper represents the results of the authors’ studies in the field of the education elitology and the modern theories of elites for over twenty years.
