Abstract

Population aging phenomenon is recorded not just in highly economically developed countries but it is felt even in the less developed countries. The aging of the population affected the Czech Republic as well. Over the last 20 years there has been quite a dramatic change in the age structure of the population. Population aging brings with it the need for a wide range of changes in the functioning of society in areas that are significantly affected by the age structure of the population. The main areas are the funding of the pension and health care system. The growing number of the older persons increases the required volume of provided health care and cost for this care. The financial requirements for the payment of pensions will grow in the same way. The consequences of these facts will have an impact on the economy of the state. Under the influence of changes there is a real need to reform pension insurance and health care system. Population aging is a process that changes the functioning of society. The question remains which way the countries solve this problem and the impact of these demographic changes. What is the certain fact - this is a historically unprecedented event that affects the functioning of all social systems.
