COMPARATIVE STYLISTIC ASPECTS DEDUCED FROM THE ANALYTICAL APPROACH OF WORKS: „IL PRIGIONIERO“ BY LUIGI DALLAPICCOLA AND „MARIANA PINEDA“ BY DORU POPOVICI
Abstract
As the shows belong to two different musical cultures (Italian and Romanian), it is difficult to draw a comparison. „Mariana Pineda“ by Doru Popovici was created in the second half of the 20th century, 1965-1966 and „Il prigioniero“ by Luigi Dallapiccola in the first half of the last century, 1947. After analyzing the scores and the specialty bibliography, some common traits are noticed, revealing a closeness of the two operas in terms of genre (both operas are in one act), thematic (theme of individual’s freedom is seen differently), general expressionist style or in terms of various musical modalities of treating the opera. There is a synthesis idiom that combines serialism and modalism, the chorus commenting with a collective voice on the plot, as in ancient tragedies. The general comparative analysis of the two creations, „Mariana Pineda “(Doru Popovici) and „Il prigioniero “(Luigi Dallapiccola) can be made only in the context of the expressionist genre, following the lines of similarities and differences within this context
