THE EFFECT OF USING ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR MONITORING OXYGEN LEVEL DURING BODYBUILDING WORKOUTS WITH STUDENTS ON THE EFFICIENCY OF THE ACTIVITY
Abstract
Monitoring SpO2% during bodybuilding workouts could offer information about effort intensity and gives the opportunity to better understand what happens in this kind of physical activity. The aim of the research is to monitor the oxygen level during bodybuilding workouts with students for 10 weeks. If we monitor the students oxygen level during bodybuilding workouts, we will be able to establish physiological patterns (oxygen level) of the activity at noncompetitive youth bodybuilders. Applied workout methodology was in accordance with the age particularities of the subjects and included different bodybuilding methods applied to the subjects in each session. During this period, at every workout session, we measured five times the oxygen level: before warm-up, after warm-up, in main part of the workout, after cool down and 5 minutes after cool down.Descriptive statistics were calculated based on the collected data, while ANOVA was used for the purpose of determining the difference in measured variables between two testings. The workout program was applied weekly by using different variants of bodybuilding methods and due to that, we can see no variations from week to week at each analyzed category. The data show that the intensity of the effort is moderate, which does not lead to the accumulation of considerable oxygen debt. The bodybuilding workout principles recommend the use of large and very large loads made in 6-9 series of 6-12 repetitions each, so that the duration of the effort in making a series is less than 30 seconds, and the break ensures the compensation of the resulting oxygen debt of making the effort. The overall statistical analysis of the obtained results, by simultaneous analysis of all the moments in the structure of the training session, is significant by applying the ANOVA test for p <0,05. Bodybuilding trainings must provide flexibility in order to meet the desired outcomes and make accessible to the students.
