Abstract

The paper deals with and analyzes the efficiency of certain body strength development procedures using weight training exercises on mesomorph subjects aged 19-21 from the University Politehnica of Bucharest. The purpose of the research is to determine which of the mesomorph subjects being situated in the three groups obtained superior results at the barbell squat exercise by using different body strength development procedures. The procedures used in the research are the following: the procedure of weight training, the procedure of training to failure and the procedure of circuit training. The evaluation tool used in the research is the one-repetition maximum strength test. This test is used to measure the maximum strength of a subject highlighted in a single repetition. The duration of the research was of 12 weeks (36 training sessions) attended by 24 students from the University Politehnica of Bucharest, aged 19-21, divided into 3 homogeneous groups of 8 students. The training sessions took place three times a week. We used in our research the following methods: the bibliographic study, the observation method, the experiment method and the statistical method. The progression rate shows that group G2 had better performances than groups G1 and G3. The group G1 subjects had an increase of 21.47%, group G2 an increase of 24.89% and group G3 an increase of 22.19%. This highlights the greater progress of the group G2 subjects. We can conclude that H calculated is statistically significant, the null hypothesis is rejected, and the research one is accepted, so there are significant differences between the medians of the three groups.
