STUDY REGARDING STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT OF VISUALLY IMPAIRED PUPILS THROUGH THE USE OF DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
Abstract
Purpose: the aim of this research is to perform an analysis of the level of strength for visually impaired pupils. This experimental study wishes to improve strength through the use of differentiated instruction. Methods: the study was realized during 2014 – 2015 scholar year, during the physical education lessons. The subjects of this research were pupils from the 6th grade (boys and girls) from the Gymnasium Special School for visually impaired pupil, Bucharest, Romania. For the experimental study, a number of 20 pupils attended: 10 suffering of blindness and 10 suffering of amblyopia. The research included 3 classes: 6th A and 6th D (experimental group) and 6th B (control group). We applied the initial assessment, which consisted of the use of the following tests: Squats Test, Trunk-Extension in 30", Pull-ups on gymnastic bench in 15", Strength Sample Krause-Weber. The study period lasted 6 weeks, which included 12 lessons for strength development. During the 12 lessons, the experimental classes (6th A and 6th D) worked on value groups, as a result of the initial evaluation, in accordance with motor potential and ophthalmological disease of the pupils. After the preparation period, the 3 group has repeated the tests used in the initial evaluation. Results: the research realizes a comparative analysis of the performances obtained by the experimental group at the initial and final strength evaluation. We also compared the results of the experimental and control group regarding the final strength evaluation. Conclusions: the analysis of the results showed us an improvement in terms of strength for the visually impaired pupils through the use the differentiated instruction.
